Your correct, but even for close family we should still assist them spiritually, if someone asks for help on this aspect we should provide it for them, (we as a communitty of Sikhs struggle with this and now we have confused Sikhs like Hundal).
Love is deeper than just spousal love, there's love for parents, siblings, and close friends. If someone dear to me wanted to get my help on spirituality, Daas would recommend Guru Sahib alone, not any other.
