I think because panjab was the gateway, it was harder to defend and also hindu rajas after the first defeat just gave up.on sebsequebt invasion, they would just go into hiding or make tribute to invaders. The tribute would consist of money n sometimes the hand of their daughters. Then when mughal dynasty came, they became courtiers, so they sold out the ppl to keep their positions. Have u watched Jodha Akbar the movie? The rajput maharana partap was fighting the mughals, and another rajput married his daughter, jodha,to the mughal king to keep his kingdom. The maharana was so mad at the betrayal of his own rajputs. Also when he was in hiding from the mughals, and starving, the other rajputs wrote a letter saying, please don't surrender, you r the only one whos kept rajput anakh alive, we have sold ourselves, dont surrender.
I dont blame the ksatriyas for surrendering, the mongols were amazing horsemen, and had the most advanced cavalry. They were also brutal, whichever kingdoms did not surrender, they would burn everything down and kill everyone even the pets.
