My own mother when asked by her sass (my dadi) said she wanted to have a daughter on her first pregnancy and although taken aback by her fortrightness and steady gurmukh attitude my dadi tried saying that others would say she was mad : 'I don't care'. My Father was also happy for a daughter this was back in the sixties so it is the attitude of the people not the age in which they live. I mean Mai Bhago was cherished and taught martial skills by her parents before marriage . WE ARE SIKHS not weak willed superstitious fools, so this predjudice has no place . What evers happens is due to Akal Purakh's will and the blessing of a child should be gratefully accepted , in fact we should all pray that we have daughters who are the calibre of Bibi Bhani , Mata Gujri and Mai Bhago to carry forward our panth into a golden future .
