Im sure we have all experienced the same position as you have, but the answer is to not give up regarding being dharmic.. The ultimate root cause of being besharam is being away from Sri Vaheguru ji, so creating the atmosphere in a dharmic way is what will help anyone to be closer to her. She is the all loving mother, the root cause of all preeet in this world, surely as someone cries for their mother the mother will answer the child's cry. Only remember Sri Vaheguru ji during all circumstances in life, see her in everyone because she is the root source of all action as well. Whenever the feeling arises in which we are tempted by the 5 dukhs, just remember that they only give dukhs as the result, and make us more away from Sri Vaheguru ji. But of course, all of this bhakti is only awarded due to Sri Vaheguru ji's wish : ) So. if you apply yourself with Gurmat teachings etc you will attain that avastha of nirvan sukh, which is the HIGHEST sukh, then all other materialistic sukhs will not seem worth it. & don't listen to anyone who insults anything in this world because our goal is to have love for all Sri Vaheguru ji has, and not disgust.
