Every action Pun and Paap is written down. What ever we sow we will reap. What Karams we do are being written down by Chitar Gupt who will then read it to Dharam Rai when we are in front of him. Based on those Karams we are rewarded or punished.
There is no scare tactic here. "You only live once" and get punished or rewarded for eternity is a scare tactic of the Abrahamic faiths. The Dharmic religions teach the laws of Karma and reincarnation are just and fair. We are responsible for everything. Karmas are divided into three categories. Sanchit, Pralabdh and Kriyaman. It is a very complex and fair system.
